As one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations, the Costa del Sol covers approximately 155km (96 miles) stretch of coastline in the Malaga province. After flying into Malaga Airport, located about 7km to the west of Malaga City, you are going to either travel to the Eastern Costa del Sol or Western Costa del Sol. The Eastern Costa del Sol is highly developed in terms of real estate, but nothing to the like of the Western side. Dotted along the Eastern side of the coast are numerous coves ideal for exploring, some accessible by car whilst others only by foot. As you drive outwards from Malaga towards the East, you'll travel up above the high cliffs, and see some of the fantastic views. Nerja is the main tourist destination for the Eastern Costa del Sol. The Western Costa del Sol is the most developed area of southern Spain, covering around 100km of coastline from the earliest of the tourist resorts of Torremolinos to the playground of the rich and famous marina of Puerto Banus. The coastline is well developed with a mixture of hotels/apartments and private urbanisations, and a great public transport system to get you exploring the different resorts.
